In an upcoming special election on May 7, 2024, voters in Plainfield, specifically those in Precincts 2 and 9, will have the opportunity to cast their ballots on proposals for Comstock Park Public Schools and Kenowa Hills Public Schools.  

Key Dates and Registration 
The last day to register to vote by any method other than in-person is April 22, 2024. After this deadline, registration can only be completed in person at the clerk's office.  

Voting Information 
For this special election, there is no early voting option available. However, absentee voting provides a convenient alternative for those unable to attend in person on election day. Ballots for absentee voting have already been sent to individuals on the permanent ballot list. 

Absentee Voting Details: 

  • Absentee ballots and applications must be returned to the Township Clerk’s Office. 
  • It's important to sign and date the back of the return envelope personally, as per state law, no one else can do this on behalf of the voter. 
  • The return of ballots is postage-paid, removing the need for stamps. 
  • Ballots can be returned either by mail or via secure drop boxes located at the Township Hall and the Kent District Library. 

Election Day Voting 
On May 7, 2024, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for in-person voting. Voters from Precincts 2 and 9 can find their polling locations by consulting the Plainfield Township precinct map or by visiting the official Michigan voting website and entering their details. 

Looking Ahead 
Following the May special election, Plainfield Township residents should also be aware of the primary election on August 6, 2024, and the general election on November 5, 2024. Early voting for these elections will be available at the Township Hall for nine consecutive days leading up to each election day.
