The Plainfield Charter Township Clerk’s Office oversees all elections in the Township, including elections for portions of Northview, Comstock Park, Rockford and Kenowa Hills school districts. The Clerk’s Office is committed to providing safe and secure elections and ensuring voting is accessible for all eligible Township residents.

CURRENT ELECTION DATES

Proposals for Comstock Park Public Schools and Kenowa Hills public schools - precincts 2 and 9 only

primary election - august 6, 2024

general election - november 5, 2024

IF YOU PLAN TO VOTE, YOU SHOULD:

  • Register to vote or confirm you are registered. Make sure your address is correct and/or update your address if you've moved. 14 days prior to an election, you must register in person at the clerk's office with proof of residency. 
  • Find your polling location/voting center if you plan to vote in person. Early in-person voting begins in 2024. Learn more about early in-person voting  (Prop. 2022-02)  here:
  • Fill out an absentee ballot application if you do not plan to vote in person.
    • All voters who plan to cast an absentee ballot must fill out an absentee ballot application. Voters can fill out a one-time application to receive a ballot for every election. (Prop. 2022-02)
  • Track your absentee application and ballot.
  • View sample ballots.
  • Contact the Township Clerk’s Office with any questions.
EARLY VOTING:
NOTE: There is no early voting for the May 7, 2024 special election. Absentee voting and in-person voting on election day for is open for voters in Precincts 2 and 9 only. 

Early voting will held at the Township Hall 6161 Belmont Ave. NE for 9 consecutive days before each election. Early voting begins the second Saturday before the election and ends the Sunday before the election from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

ABSENTEE VOTING:
Absentee applications and ballots must always be returned to the Township Clerk’s Office. 

SIGN and date the back of the return envelope. Per state law, no other person can sign your absentee ballot, including a power of attorney or family member, on your behalf.

Return ballots are postage-paid.  No need to add a stamp.

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP PRECINCT MAPYou can find your polling location by viewing the map of precincts link to the left of this page or by visiting michigan.gov/vote and entering your name or driver’s license number. All precincts are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Plainfield Charter Township has 11 precincts. You will vote in the same precinct for ALL elections.

MILITARY PERSONNEL OR RESIDENTS OVERSEASThe Federal Voting Assistance Program helps uniformed service members and their families or residents temporarily living outside the U.S. with the voting process.

You can fill out a federal postcard application online by visiting FVAP.gov. A ballot will be sent to you.

BECOME AN ELECTION INSPECTORThe Clerk’s Office hires qualified Township residents to serve as election inspectors. These individuals perform duties within the scope of Michigan Election Law and as directed by the Clerk and Clerk’s Office staff. Election inspector is a paid position and subject to the federal Minimum Wage Act.

Applicants may be considered for an election inspector position if they:

  • Are at least 16 years old.
  • Submit an application online to the Township Clerk's Office. We are not yet hiring for August /November 2024.  
  • Are willing to declare a political party preference to ensure a balanced election board.
  • Can attend mandatory, paid election worker training. 

Applicants are ineligible to serve as election inspectors if they:

  • Are a candidate for any position in the current election.
  • Have an immediate family member who is a candidate for any position in the current election.
  • Are an election challenger.
  • Are a member of the local Board of Canvassers.
  • Have ever been convicted of a felony or an election crime.
