Plainfield Charter Township Building Permit Process
Plainfield Township contracts with Cascade Township to provide complete building services - trades permits (electrical, mechanical, plumbing), building permits, and building inspections. Cascade Township is responsible for the administration of all building services.
The building permit application through Cascade Township includes a zoning application. Plainfield Township will review the zoning application for compliance and will conduct a final zoning inspection for new build residential & commercial projects. The zoning application and site plan will be submitted to Cascade Township as part of the building permit process.

Zoning Inspections
Plainfield Township Zoning Staff will be conducting zoning inspections prior to the final building inspection for new homes and new commercial buildings. Please contact the Community Development Department to set up all zoning inspections at least 24 hours prior to the requested inspection time: 616-364-1190 or communitydevelopment@plainfieldmi.org. The building inspector will need zoning sign off prior to issuing occupancy.
